Balloons galore adorned the entrances of four new Golden Krust restaurants during a marathon and historic weekend of store openings in Atlanta.

Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill now operates 107 stores in nine states in the United States. Excitement was added to the festivities with live bands, free samples of Grace Juices and great deals from Golden Krust’s exciting menu.

In declaring the stores open, Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States, Professor Gordon Shirley, says "the growth of Golden Krust into a successful franchise is not only inspiring, but is also a testament to the indefatigable and enterprising spirit of the Jamaican people"

Ambassador Shirley commended Golden Krust’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Lowell Hawthorne, for taking Jamaica’s culinary art across the United States. Golden Krust, he said, represents the best of Jamaica.

"Jamaica’s cultural product is accepted internationally the same way that our music has already been accepted," the Ambassador said.

Mr. Hawthorne said that "Atlanta is the city where Caribbean nationals and Jamaicans are now moving to in droves. The trend of the restaurant

business is growing in Atlanta and it is now time that Golden Krust capitalize in this market and bring Jamaican cuisine to both the Caribbean and American communities in Atlanta as this is a great market."

The four stores which were officially opened by Ambassador Shirley are located at Peachtree Center Mall in the heart of downtown Atlanta, operated by Deon and Tracy Francis; 2020 Candler Road, operated by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Arnold and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Duncan, 7245 Rockbridge Road, operated by Mr. and Mrs. Ainsworth Mallot; and 1267 S. Hairston Road, operated by Jacqueline Hawthorne Robinson.

A number of officials including Jamaica’s Honorary Consul to Atlanta Vin Martin, and a large delegation of Golden Krust’s top executives from New York participated in the two day celebration. A franchise seminar was held, for persons interested in owning their own Golden Krust franchise. Golden Krust is one of the fastest growing franchises in the United States and has become the largest producer of Caribbean baked products in the US since it opened its first store in the Bronx, NY in 1989.

Golden Krust is considered the foremost Jamaican business in the United States and is the only company that makes and distributes nine varieties of Jamaican-style patties throughout the US.

Jamaicans will triumph, says US Ambassador

By nature, townhall meetings are forums open to all: the good, the bad the confused and those aching to pass blame for decades of missed opportunities. They came to hear, perhaps to learn, listen and to do lots of talking. It is clichéd "participation of the masses."
